Leading advocacy and awareness organization for trichotillomania and other body-focussed repetitive behaviors (BFRBs), the Trichotillomania Learning Centre (TLC), was founded by Christina Pearson in 1990, and has since grown from strength to strength creating a positive impact in the lives of thousands of sufferers with BFRBs. In 2014 Christina went on to founded yet another impactful organization, the Heart and Soul Academy. The Academy is a nonprofit institute devoted to reducing suffering for those who live with and suffer from BFRBs such as trichotillomania, excoriation disorder and related problems. The Academy's goal is to both enhance and expand services for the BFRB community. One such way the Academy sets out to achieve this is to create and produce events such as annual retreats and regional get-togethers  as an environment where people can experience profound change for the better. Even prior to the formation of the Academy, Christina has already hosted 22 annual retreats with the help of a committed team of TLC members,  clinicians, researchers, and workshop facilitators. During the period of establishing the Heart and Soul Academy and transitioning from TLC Founding Director to the Academy's CEO and Director, there has not been a retreat for 2 years.

Re-igniting Hope

It is such exciting news that the Annual BFRBs Retreat has been revived this year! It will be held 10-13 September high in the Colorado Rockies at Snow Mountain Ranch. According to the Academy:

The Retreat offers a special opportunity to find comfort, re-ignite hope and discover new pathways to wholeness and recovery. By attending, you will have the rare chance to spend time not only with many others who are dealing with the same issues, but also get to spend casual time with some of the most knowledgeable BFRB treatment providers and workshop facilitators in the world

The Retreat is an intensely powerful, deeply supportive event set in a rural, beautiful setting. It is aimed at those struggling with BFRBs of all ages, as well as their parents, spouses and loved ones.
