CBT is an umbrella term for a number of different approaches to psychotherapy, all dealing with dysfunctional thinking patterns and behaviors and emotional suffering related to them. Several types of CBT have been tested and shown to be effective for trichotillomania, among them habit reversal training (HRT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) that this program is based on.

HRT is a behavioral intervention that targets the habitual aspects of hair pulling and helps you substitute it with healthier behaviors, whereas ACT teaches a different way of relating to internal, private experiences, helping clients develop a healthier approach to their emotions. These two interventions combined target the problematic behaviors as well as their emotional underpinning.

After you sign up and we match you with a therapist, your therapist will create a unique digital treatment program for you based on your specific case. The communication with your therapist will be text-based, and you will have different discussions on various topics pertaining to the treatment process. You can message your therapist at any time and without the need for scheduling through our secure messaging system.

All prospective clients ages 15 and up can sign up for our adult program.

If you have a child struggling with trichotillomania and your child is under the age of 13, we recommend that you join our program for parents.

We don't recommend nor do we prescribe specific medications. If you are currently taking medications or you're planning to start taking medications, we recommend consulting your doctor/psychiatrist. Medication use is not addressed specifically by the program.

We don’t accept insurance. You might want to check with your insurance company to see if they can reimburse payment for this program. We do provide very affordable pricing, which is comparable with the co-pay of typical insurance plans.

Yes, you can stay anonymous if you wish. You don’t have to provide your real name to us at any point in the process.

It depends on your needs, and it varies between people. Some use it only for a few weeks, while others stick to the program for months. This is entirely up to you.
