Trichotillomania is a condition in which the affected person compulsively pulls their hair out. Studies show that many Trich sufferers suffer from problems with interpersonal relationships. They may avoid social activities like swimming, haircuts, and relationships. Many Trich sufferers suffer from low self esteem, shame, feeling unattractive, depression, and secretiveness. While you may feel alone if you have Trich, it is important to know that it is thought that it is believed 4% of the population has Trich.

It is thought that those with Trich suffer from low levels of serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. This is associated with OCD disorders as well as depression. Many times doctors prescribe antidepressants along with behavior therapy to treat Trich. There are some natural supplements you can try before you turn to prescription drugs, however. Theanine is found in green tea, and it is also available in supplement form. Gaba is thought to aid brain function and increase relaxation. Magnesium Taurate is a mineral your body needs to function properly. It also helps with relaxation. 5HTP is a supplement that is thought to raise serotonin levels and have antidepressant effects.

Alyssa's make-up cover-up tips

Alyssa Coppers suffers from Trichotillomania. She vlogs about her condition and offers advice and encouragement to other Trich sufferers. You may feel the need to use make up to hide your Trich. You may be very self conscious about your condition or afraid people won't accept you if they know. If you want to use make up to hide your Trich, this tutorial will show you how.

First you will want to take an eyebrow pencil and draw in your eyebrows. You should use a flicking motion to keep them natural looking, and be sure to include an arch. Be sure to use a color that matches your natural hair color. Then take a flat liner brush and blend the pencil. Remember your eyebrows should be sisters and not twins. No ones eyebrows will be exactly the same, but they should closely resemble each other.

Next you will want to apply some eyeshadow to your brows to set it. Brown tones work really well for this. Next you will want to apply eyeshadow. You can choose whatever color you like for this. To get a smoky look, put a darker color in the crease of your eye, and then put a lighter color on the rest of your eye. You should also apply some shadow under your bottom lash line, but be careful not to get it in your eye.

Next, apply eye liner to your lash line on the top and bottom of your eye. You can then go over it with liquid eyeliner on the top. Then you can apply false eyelashes. First you will want to trim them to fit your lashes. Check and make sure they fit your eye well before you apply the glue. When you apply the glue, you will want to let it get tacky before you apply it to your eye. If you would like to have a thicker look, you can apply a second set on top of the first. You can also apply mascara to your lashes, and add more liquid eyeliner if you prefer.

Make up is a very individual thing. You can tailor this system to fit your personal preferences. If you want a more neutral look, you can use lighter eyeliner. For a more dramatic look, you can use darker shadow and black eyeliner.
