Self conscious!! Help:(

I have had trich for 9 years, it has gotten worse over time and I just don’t know what to do. I am seeing someone to help me, but I don’t think it’s helping. I’ve tried exercises, journaling, everything. I pull out my facial hair (eyebrows, eyelashes). I use makeup to make it seem easy obvious but, it doesn’t help with my insecurities. I even wear fake glasses to help cover up my trich. Please, if you have any advice- give it to me, I’m open to new ideas.

Aside from the usual advice and medicines/creams, you might want to devise a "game" or reward/punishment system. I know it's already punishment enough to lose your own hair self inflicted, but you certainly need to un-burn this pulling pattern and "burn" a different pattern into your brain over time.

For example, if you have trusted parents, siblings, or close friends, you might devise a system where each day you don't pull, they pay you $1. On a day you relapse and pull, you owe them the entire amount they gave you back. If continue pulling after that day on subsequent days, you owe them $1 each day. Keep accounting. If you have consecutively accumulated up to $365 from one person that doesn't mind losing that money for the sake of helping you out, that would certainly be a good sign.

Good luck! It's not going to be easy undoing this compulsive "habit", but many of us have and can be done. It seems to require some amount of work and time to un-train that pattern of thought.
