Why!!! Could it be the nerve endings in the scalp?

I started pulling when I was six years old into my 20s but I kept it in a corner spot size. And I seem to have stopped the age of 24 to 53 I know stress and anxiety triggered it for me and I now have been pulling for a year when I pull in the hair grows back like bristles I rub my finger over it hard and it feels good and then I start to dig into my scalp either with my fingernails or a pencil or anything and a sharp, i'm just wondering if anybody has studied the nerve ends in the scalp. Because when I did or pull it seems to " hurt so good" and gets very hot, sometimes I have to ice the spot to calm it down. Any suggestions ?
