Hi. I noticed that my urges increase in times when I smoke marijuana. Anyone experiences the same pattern?
This is an interesting question. I would be interested to hear others' responses. This may in fact be an good topic to research for our blog.
I regularly smoke weed and am now thinking of giving up as it makes the urges 10x worse. Its kind of a self perpetuating problem for me. Im depressed because im pulling all the time so i smoke weed to cope. Least when im stoned i dont care how much i pull. Except when I wake up the next day and i see the damage ive done and the whole thing starts again. Pretty much the definition of addictive behavior right?

Hello Mr Trich,So you are addicted to weed and have trichotillomania? How are you planning to get rid of this addiction? Do you have any plan about it? Did you speak about this to your doctor?
We have done some research into the connection between smoking weed and trich and will be posting an article about our findings on our blog this month so do look out for it.
There is no being "addicted" to weed is isn't like most drugs which are physically addicting therefore just making it a want. When I smoked it worked better than any medication i have ever taken, I had stopped completely but when I started smoking regularly hoping that, I could stop pulling as long as I had a little each day. (like a medication) but then I built up a tolerance to it (just like you would with medicine) therefore it had less effective and i would have to smoke more (or take more pills) to not feel anxiety or the urge to pull. When I started getting more used to it and got to where I could still feel my anxiety even after I smoked I would stop long enough for my tolerance to go down then start again. Just because of the fact that it would start to become a costly habit if my tolerance kept going up because then I would have to buy more. Even when I could still feel my anxiety, though not near as bad I never felt the urge to pull after smoking. I was too lazy, which is a good thing in my case because with my anxiety and Adhd I could never sit still comfortably which was really annoying and stressed me out. I didn't care about pulling, i didn't care about my appearance, or what other people think in those moments I felt like me. The only times I ever truely feel like me and that I could be myself. Also when your smoking with other people they couldn't care less. It's a completely peaceful environment. I admit certain types might make your anxiety higher but that's something you'll have to know and watch out for as far as what you're getting and what kind of buzz you will be having. There are two different types of a buzz with this stuff. Body buzz and a head buzz. With the body buzz my body was feeling nice and relaxed too relaxed to care about pulling or even move sometimes lol. With the head buzz my head felt either really light or really heavy and with my head feeling like that my mind was other places. I could still function perfectly fine, but for once I could actually relax.
To me the body buzz helps best with the urge to pull as far as moving but if you're really set on pulling I would go with the head buzz.
