Will my eyebrows grow back?

Hi, I'm new here. In middle school, I used to pull my eyelashes. This kind of stopped in highschool, when I started using drugs at about 15. I struggled with my addiction for maybe five years. I'm almost 21 now, and I have five months clean. Ever since I got clean though, I've been pulling my eyebrows. It started as like, excessive tweezing. Just shaping too much. Then it was wayyyy too much. I can't stop. It's mostly just my left brow, for some reason. I mostly use tweezers, but I sit and pull at them with my fingers all day. Now I have a couple ingrown hairs, and I don't know what to do. I just want my eyebrows back. It feels so good to get the hairs out, but afterwards, I feel so ashamed. Help!

Hi Kirstenfaith, welcome to the forum. With regards to your question whether your eyebrows will grow back, yes, eyebrows do grow back after being completely pulled out. However,  while you express you desperately want your eyebrows back, I am hearing you ask a much more important question - how to stop plucking eyebrows. Do you have access to professional help? It is possible to stop, but you need to be supported in this process. The feelings of shame you are experiencing is all part and parcel of trichotillomania. There is no need to feel ashamed and remember that you are not alone. Please do also browse through the articles on our blog as you may find further helpful information there.
