Eating hair follicle

I've been dealing with this for almost five years. I used to have beautiful, voluminous, thick, healthy hair.... now there are bald spots all over my scalp. Anxiety is my enemy but I am going to continue to try and get through this. Just now I was doing good, but gave in to the urge when watching TV and showering. Pulling doesn't feel as good now, but what I enjoy most is eating the hair follicle. I enjoy biting it between my teeth and hearing it snap. Anyone else? (1st post here btw)

I have been feeling the same way ever since the start of the pandemic, symptom and result wise. It dose not feel as good anymore, and I have recently just finished a production of my schools play, and since then it has caused me to relapse. This discouraged me but I know we can all do better. We all deserve to have out thick, and in my case extremley curly, hair back. Good luck Ruby, and thank you for letting me know I am not alone, and I want you to know you are not either.

I agree 100%. I have never been a social person, but the pandemic left me in so much isolation and since I would see people less often in person, it made it easier to keep pulling my hair.

I hope you've been doing better over these past months. It really is a relief knowing that other people are going through a similar thing and that we shouldn't feel ashamed or embarrassed to reveal these parts of ourselves

Yes I can relate 100% to this. My ‘ritual’ involves finding one hair that feels wirey and thick and pulling it so that the follicle comes out. I then bite it to hear the crunch.

I don't know why hearing that crunching sound is so satisfying to me. I get so desperate to find one consecutively and it always results in me leaving a bald spot in an area of my head.

The noise and the feeling of this thick follicle against my teeth is very addicting.

Hopefully the urge to search for these specific hairs dimishes

My daughter has had this as her ritual for 3 years. You are not alone. I’m sorry you are struggling. It’s incredibly difficult and often misunderstood.
