3 month regrowth quetsion

last March I noticed a significant amount of hair around my crown gone most likely from running my fingers compulsively through it frequently. Now it's nearly July and there still seems to be that significant amount gone. Is that pacing normal, presumably for the follicle to regenerate or something? I'd be happy to provide a photo if that helps. Thank you all very much.
