Where Did it Start?

I have been dealing this on and off for about 5 years now but recently it's gotten worse. Most articles/self help things I've read say that this normally develops out of trauma, anxiety, etc. but I was not in any situation like this when I started, nor when the habit picked up again. I'm curious as to whether or not what I have is a different disorder/form or if I subconsciously started for another reason. I feel that understanding how I developed these tendencies may help me stop pulling for good.

Hi Gubs,

When I was younger, I remember being told that I pulled because it was caused by anxiety. Although I’ve had a few mild symptoms of anxiety when I was young, I’ve never pulled feeling anxious or in panic. I just pulled. My mom would never believe me when I told her ‘I don’t know’ whenever she asked me why I did it.

People have their own reasons why they’ve been introduced to this disorder. If I’m correct, people could carry a gene that puts you in risk for the trich.

Since you’ve had roughly five years of history with it, it could be that force of habit. But identifying how we started it or why we continue with is the hard part. Try to find a correlation of emotions, events, reasons, health, or even location that is is relevant among the times you pulled. I found a correlation that I pull specific/unique lashes.

I hope this can help!
