School is making trich worse

So I am eleven, in class with thirteen year olds. I have had trichotillomania for four years, and my school is making it worse. People say I look weird, and when I attempt to isolate myself so I can hide my eyelashes it is said I have no friends. I also have anxiety, and it means a great deal what people think of me in my eyes. So I pull. And more people bring it up and it goes around and around until I am obsessing over my eyebrows and crying my eyes out because I feel so much guilt. Getting counseling, hopefully the second time will work :/

Hello. I am so sorry you are having such an awful experience with trich and with school. I am curious as to why you are in a class with older children? The teen years can be really challenging for anyone let alone when you are struggling with anxiety. Both anxiety and stress can be major triggers for pulling. Here are a few articles you may find informative:

I hope counselling will be helpful for you. If your counsellor is not familiar with treating trich it may be useful for him or her to visit this website for some info.

Best of luck to you!

Hello, find yourself a hobby that you can do. A sport that you enjoy. Keep your mind and hands busy. You have many important years ahead that will help define your life for many years. Don't let people bother you about your looks. This is what leads you down a darker path, a path that is hard to escape. Escape that and beat this, you have to. It is not impossible, it can be done but you have to be dedicated. Try using a calendar to mark your successful days. Make sure you're physically active as much as possible. It's the only way to push this problem away I think. Remember though that even if it goes away it can come back so keep positive thoughts that you can beat it anytime. Good luck and your hard work will pay off.
